DAY 1: Welcome!

Check-in and welcome meeting at one of Ljubljana's best old town hotels. Welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 2: Ljubljana, the beloved

Explore Slovenia’s capital on foot, strolling through medieval squares and streets. Ljubljana surprises visitors with its beauty and small-town charm. The beautifully renovated old town follows the banks of Ljubljanica river, as it wraps itself around the castle hill. Our tour will take you to all of the old town’s highlights, including the colorful farmers’ market, the cathedral, the town hall, the University building at Congress square, Cobblers and Dragon bridge. Discover more of Ljubljana on your own during the free afternoon with the help of customized recommendations from your Trip Leader. Rejoin the group in the evening and take the funicular up to Ljubljana castle for dinner.

DAY 3: Idrija's heritage

Idrija is the city with the longest mining tradition in Slovenia. Explore the UNESCO protected museum of Idrija's mercury mine. Apart from the world’s 2nd largest mercury mine, the town is also known for its bobbin lace-making tradition. The Lace-making School of Idrija was established in 1876 with a royal decree from Vienna and has been keeping this amazing art alive ever since. After lunch in a local mansion visit the intriguing clandestine WW2 hospital of Franja. Clandestine hospitals were a particularity of the Slovenian resistance movement. They were built in barely accessible forests, deep gorges and underground caves, saving lives in circumstances that are hard to imagine today. Return to Ljubljana.

DAY 4: Postojna cave and Predjama castle

A large part of Slovenia has a distinct landscape called Karst. It is all about the geological phenomena of caves and sinkholes. A place of limestone rocks, windy meadows and underground mysteries it calls for a visit to the most famous of Slovenia's twelve thousand caves.
Explore the stunning beauty of Postojna cave, where the world's first underground train takes visitors to the most interesting parts of the cave. Continue to Predjama Castle, a unique cliffside fortress built into the mouth of a cave. Explore the maze of this mysterious fort and learn about its interesting history. Return back to Ljubljana. Dinner in the local restaurant.

DAY 5: Lake Bled

Visit the Alpine region with the lake Bled. The setting is just incredible - a small clear-blue lake, an island with a small church (pilgrimage site) in the middle, a medieval cliff castle with a million-dollar view and the Julian Alps behind it. Bled is for nature lovers, for hikers and for those, who like to enjoy beautiful views and taste local specialities like a famous 'kremšnita' cake. Afternoon is off for exploring on your own relaxation.

DAY 6: Triglav National Park

A day trip to the alpine valley Bohinj, which boasts the country’s biggest lake. This wild wonder is surrounded with high Julian Alps, the kingdom of the famous mountain goat Zlatorog. The place is full of legends, full of great hiking opportunities and amazing views of the Triglav National Park. Enjoy in nature and take a cable-car ride to Vogel mountain for the views of the whole valley and a typical alpine hut meal.

DAY 7: Vintgar gorge and Radovljica

Vintgar, a picturesque gorge is located in the vicinity of Bled and was made by Radovna river. Green water is playing around the rocks with all its power. There is an impressive board-walk where there is no path. Fill your batteries with many healthy negative ions. A small town of Radovljica, close to Bled has a beautiful medieval old town and nice views, it's famous for beekeeping and local handycrafts. Farewell dinner in a traditional restaurant.
